I like the look and feel of the mashup templates I've viewed. I found that we didn't get mashup as part of our LSO package, and it will cost an additional $40,000. We are anticipating upgrading to Infor 10 in FY15. Can I justify spending the money and time to implement mashup so close to our upgrade?

Jackie,
I love Mashups and feel it is one of the best products that Lawson/Info has come up with. I had to justify the LSO Mashup licensing as well but it really was easy to do. We have approached each business area to roll out LSO with Mashups. We look at the business practice to build mashups and the collaboration with LSO as key to saving time. If you buy now and incorporate true business process analysis redesign for each area (HR, Materials, Finance, Payroll, etc) those mini projects will take you toward your FY15 goal without loading everything into a small window of time.
What I like best is that you can take your business process and build it into a mashup. For example, last week I was building a Payroll Termination Mashup. By looking at the Employees in process of leaving the company/terminated, we look at their HR11 record, look to see what deductions (one-time) from parking, gift shop, cafe, etc that are owed as well as their PTO balance that needs to be paid out. In order to get all of this the PR staff today would have to go to 4-5 forms to gather the data. It now is in one screen/mashup for them to see everything they need and when they double click it takes them to the form they need to take action. This kind of time savings is the value add for mashups and constructs your ROI.
I don't know where you are in the process of prepping for Infor 10 but we concidered LSO rollout with Mashups a project much like security, LPA etc. that you can do before getting to 10.
Hope that helps

My other question for you is how many Mashup licenses are included in the cost you were quoted. We started with 5 licenses and are purchasing 5 more but we bought very early in the process so the initial purchase may have changed. If you are buying a large group of licenses you might be able to pair it down to 5 key users in IT or a strategic business area and then move toward your goal of licenses for those developing mashups.
Just a thought, if you have questions feel free to reach out

Depending on *who* is creating your mashups, you might only need a single license (I confess I don't know how it is licensed). Depending on how many mashups you want, another option (yes, Infor will love me for saying this...), which was also used by clients for Design Studio customizations, is to have mashups created by a licensed partner, and you just install them. Remember that mashups are simply a bundle of files, and the license is for *creating* them, not installing and using them. There are a number of "free" or inexpensive mashups available from various sources, that you can install without having to license the designer. Just thinking out loud...
Also, "Infor ION" has NOTHING to do with Mashups, so your topic subject is misleading. I think your asking "Will Infor 10 replace mashup?" ?
